The Pete Moore Hospice House will be a lasting, community investment that represents Lane County residents’ shared commitment to quality end-of-life services. Following approval, expected in early 2011, we plan to build this much-needed 12-bed Hospice House to meet an unmet health care need in our community. This house will be the only one of its kind in Lane County. Most of us have been touched by the death of someone we love. If it was the result of an extended illness, we wanted our loved one to be free from pain and at peace in their final days. This is what Hospice is able to provide. This valuable service focuses on quality of life through pain and symptom management, as well as helping individuals find meaning in the final phase of life. It involves a team of dedicated professionals and volunteers, who offer physical, emotional, social and spiritual support to both the patient and family. There are also those who don’t have family or someone to care for them, yet they wish to die in a home environment. A Hospice House provides that home-like environment and necessary care. For many, it is a highly valued alternative to a nursing home or a hospital. Our home will provide exceptional skilled nursing care and pain management in a loving, serene environment free from many of the customary restrictions found in acute care settings. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact us. |
